and saddle fitting on most other brands.
Assistant Trainer: Jessica Levin; Instruction for Beginner's through Second level
Jessica was born and raised in Long Island, NY. At an early age she was fortunate enough to be introduced to horse back riding and quickly became smitten, realizing this was her passion! Jessica has an extensive background in jumping and while living on the east coast was able to spend some time training with greats such as Anne Kursinski and Frank Madden. Even though she spent many years focused on jumping Jessica always had a foundation built upon dressage and showed the lower levels at a young age. She loved the detail and precision of riding dressage and in 2008 when she got the opportunity to move to Washington to work at a well known dressage barn she jumped at the chance! In the 2009 show season Jessica got her first taste of the FEI ring while showing Prix St Georges and knew she would always be wanting more!! In January 2011 Jessica came to work at Summervale farm where she rides and trains while continuing her education under the tutelage of Jennifer Williams. Her short term goals are to achieve her USDF medals and hopes to attend the Young Rider Graduate Program later this fall. She is a valued member of the Summervale Farm team and has blossomed with confidence while riding the young horses, helping develop them into confident dressage partners. School horse available!
Young Horse Education: Pat Stauffer
Summervale Farm has invited Pat Stauffer, of "Thinking Horses", to be a visiting trainer. Pat starts new horses and helps horses with unsafe and unwanted behavior. He uses teaching methods commonly seen among those who practice Natural or Co-operative Horsemanship. This means Pat sets himself up as the leader for the horse, thereby gaining the trust and respect of the horse.
Through the development of calm yet effective communication, a safe relationship with the horse is established. The goal is for the horse to learn to react to new situations in a "thinking" manner rather than a reactive manner. This engenders confidence for the horse and he is able to enjoy himself in and out of the arena.
Communication with the owner is very important. The owner is invited to witness training sessions to better understand the issues their horse is better learning to deal with. Weekly updates will be sent to the owner via email as well to manage expectations as best as possible. Pat encourages questions and comments.
